Violet Evergreen is a Japanese anime coming of age drama based on a novel of the same name by Kana Akatsuki. It was restructured and published in December, 2015 by Kyoto Animation. The second volume named Violet Evergreen Gaiden was later on published on March 23, 2018.
Even though an official announcement hasn’t been made, we expect the release of a “completely new” season in the near future.

The first season introduced the viewers to the Auto Memory Dolls which are employed by a doctor to help his visually impaired wife to write novels. Others try to make these dolls todo everything that pleases them. The story follows the life of a doll Violet Evergreen who tries to integrate into the post-war society.
We’ll have to wait and see if the sequel would carry on with the original story or concentrate on the side-lined characters; Benedict, Cattaleya and Hodgins.
Violet Evergarden is the first anime series to win a prize in the novel, scenario and manga category in the Kyoto Animation Awards ever. It was also awarded Best Animation award at the Crucnchyroll Anime Awards, 2019.
Anime studio Kyoto Animation is known to produce excited anime series, and carrying the story much forward past the first storyline. So, we expect the release date of the second season of Netflix’s Violet Evergarden in the near future. At the same time, the talk in the town I that the makers would release a movie rather than a whole new season; but, viewers are excited nevertheless.
The first season had a total of 13 episodes and premiered on January 11, 2018. It went on till April, 2018. A spin-off movie was set to be released on January, 2020 but was delayed due to various reasons undisclosed by the studio. Reports suggest that it may release on April 24, 2020.
