The first season of Queen Sono is set to premiere on 28th February 2020

Netflix is releasing a new action-drama thriller early in the year for us binge-watchers and we can’t wait to see it! But will this show be enough to being Pearl Thusi under the spotlight?

The story revolves around a South African spy, Queen Sono played by Pearl Thusi travels the world fighting threats against her nation while also facing ups and downs in her personal life. Sono is a strong, independent and troubled woman with an on-point hummer who has been appointed to the biggest and most horrifying job in her entire career. She faces danger head on to terminate all evil against SouthAfrica.
Kagiso Lediga, the director of Queen Sono has to fill pretty big shoes given that the new James Bond Movies No Time to Die is to premier in a few months. It is a spy series so we are going to see one gimmicky, over the top but super-cool spy gadgets and lots and lots of explosion and destruction. This is also Pearl Thusi’s first collaboration with Netflix; whether Queen Sono will live up to the hype and pull Thusi out of the shadow of her previous failed movie, The Scorpion King: Book of Souls is yet to be determined.

Netflix and the creators of the show don’t seem too enthusiastic about this series given that they have bothered to release only a single trailer of the show whereas some of the more popular shows such as Stranger Things, Sacred Games and new promising shows get a dozen trailers months before releasing.
