‘Remove China Apps’ has been removed from Google’s play store. The news has been confirmed by the Jaipur based OneTouchAppLabs on Twitter. They confirmed that the app had been suspended from the Play Store although, the firm did not give any confirmation about the reason for the removal of the app. It all started with the growing anti-china sentiment amongst the Indian citizen and the rivalry between the 2 most populated countries in the world. It has also taken a hype due to tension over a Himalayan border dispute.
The news was first confirmed by the IndiaExpress as they discovered that the app had been taken down by Google. The app was published on the Play Store on May 17, and it gained much recognition last week only. The app has already been installed by around 1 million users. Until Tuesday morning, the app was on the top list of a free app on Google Store and remained there for like 2 days. In case, you still have the application downloaded on your phone then you can use it.
The main function of the app was to detect the Chinese apps that are already in your phones and the user can delete it from their devices. They also let you decide whether you want to keep that Chinese app or delete it. Keeping that in mind Google deleted the app as it violated the policies of the Play Store. It violated the policy of ‘spam and minimum functionality’ and also ‘copying content from other apps’ as stated by the report.
The same happened with the Mitron app which was also been removed by Google. It was a rivalry app of TikTok and also had lakhs of downloads. This app again violated the Play Store’s policies of copied content and without having anything of their own. Despite its issues, the app still went viral and managed to find a place amongst the users.
The idea of deleting the Chinese apps and boycotting every other product has been supported by many celebrities too such as Ramdev Baba, Sonam Wangchuk, Nupur Sharma, etc.
