Release Date of Mulan : Disney Officially Pushed Back the Release Date Due COVID-19 Pandemic

For the past few years, Disney has been bringing out the live action version of it’s classic tales for past some years. Talking about recreating some cult classic Disney Princesses’ movies that have been rebooted ,From Magnificent (Aurora), Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast (Belle), and the recent movie to be added to this film, Aladdin (Jasmine) we got some really good movies.

Now, joining to the long list of live – action remake ; Mulan and The Little Mermaid are on this list. While the latter is still in production process, we were supposed to be able to witness Mulan this March. But due to the pandemic crisis, it got delayed.

When Is the Release Date of Mulan?

Back in December 2019, Walt Disney release the official trailer of the film disclosing the release date. Initially the film was all set for a March 27, 2020. The cast were already promoting this film in the US. But the unfortunate pandemic crisis that’s been going around, the makers and Disney announced the postponement in the release of the film.

Now, the director of the film, Niki Caro shared the news of the film’s release date through an upcoming Instagram post. The film will officially release on July 24, 2020.

The Cast in the Film Mulan

The titular role will be played by a very famous Chinese Actress, Liu Yifei who also goes by the name of Crystal Liu. She is a very beautiful and talented actress who has appeared in several Hollywood movies before Mulan which includes : Outcast and Kingdom.

Joining her to tell the folk of Mulan once again includes talented actors like Yoson An, Jet Li, Gong Li, Jason Scott Lee, Susana Tang, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Jimmy Wong, Ron Yuan, Doua Moua, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Cheng Pei – Pei , Nelson Lee, Chen Tang, Adrian Dev and Chum Ehelepola

Mulan Plot and Storyline

Based from an ancient Chinese folklore “The Ballad of Mulan”, when the Chinese emperor issues an order on the people of ancient China that one man from each family must enlist himself for the upcoming battle against Bori Khan, the eldest daughter of a retired warrior, Mulan steps forward to take place of her ailing father.

Not a Musical This Movie Would Be

It’s a bit disappointing to know that this live action would not include some classic songs from the animated version which includes ; Reflection, I’ll make a man out of you, and many more. The director clearly said that the live action would be made completely from the scratch and the adapted from the original folklore. There also will be no Shang Li (who is the love interest in the 1998 film) and Mushu in the film.
