What is the Panipat based on?

The story of Panipat revolves around the ghastly battle that took place in 18th century India. It is popularly known as the Third Battle of Panipat. The battle started on the morning of February 14 in 1761. It is the story of a battle between Marathas and Ahmad Shah Abdali, the King of Afganistan.

Marathas were the Northern Expeditionary force and fought bravely against the invaders. The Marathas starved and were caused to attack first.   The king of Afghanistan has two allies in India namely, Rohilla Afgand of Daob Shauja-ud-daula, the Nawab of Awadh.

At the plot’s core are court politics with Marathas fighting for the pride of India. It even resembles the love of Parvati bai for Bhau when she dies of grief after the death of her beloved.
