Katrina Lake is from America and she is a very successful businesswoman. She is the founder as well as the CEO of Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is a service that works on subscription and provides you with fashion based information and ideas.
The company was started by her in the year 2011 in San Francisco, but the company came out in public in 2017. Lake is the youngest ever woman to launch a technology-based company to the public. She was also the only woman to offer the services of her company to the public using technology and resources in 2017. Katrina Lake holds 16.6% of Tocks in Stitch Fix.
In November 2017 after the company went online the value of the company was $1.6 billion. In the year 2018 in August the companies’ value rose to approximately $2.8 billion.
She was born on 24th December 1982. She is the daughter of a Teacher and Physician. She grew up in San Francisco and Minnesota. Her father was an American citizen from Minnesota but her mother was and Japanese immigrant. At first, Lake wanted to be a Doctor, but later she became an entrepreneur.
She also started on the pre-med course at first, but then later she gained more interest in business and economics. She often describes herself as “risk-averse”. In 2005, she got her Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. In the year 2011, she finished her MBA from Harvard Business School.
In the beginning, Lake used to work at Polyvore and management consultancy firm The Parthenon Group. At this time Lake’s sister used to work as a clothing buyer. Her sister would send her outfits and the lake describes the style of the outfits as “Classic with a new twist”.
The people who shop from Stitch Fix, order “fixes” of five objects. All these items are selected by professional designers. Then the buyer is given three days to select which item they want to keep. Lake was determined to create an E-Commerce company that would help people to style themselves better for any occasion.
