Mewtwo Strikes Back: EVOLUTION is a Japanese animated film from the Pokémon franchise directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Motonori Sakakibara, released in 2019. It would be a CGI remake of the first film and would be released on the live streaming platform, Netflix. The film would be the 22nd instalment in the Pokémon film series which has gripped the attention of the young in the age group of 6-16 worldwide.
The story revolves around one of the most popular stories from the franchise which kicked off in 1999. Scientist Dr. Fuji is called upon by Giovanni, the leader of the infamous Team Rocket to exploit the fossil of the legendary mythical Pokémon Mew, and create weapon Mewtwo. Having woken up from deep sleep after several years, Mewtwo is enraged at finding himself being an experiment. He unleashes his wrath on humanity, as he escapes to New Island. Ash, Pikachu, Brock, Misty and Togepi finds themselves entangled in the series of destruction and sets out to save the world. Team Rocket continues to plan devious methods to stop Ash and his friends from saving the world so that they can take over Mewtwo and become the heroes.
