A Grey’s Anatomy Reunion For Patrick Dempsey And Kate Walsh
After 16 Long Seasons Is Alex Karev Getting Written Out Of Greys Anatomy?
Chambers suddenly exited last month from the show (and that his final episode had already aired). After which there is only one question in everybody’s mind; how will Grey’s address the abrupt absence of Alex Karev? The answer to that question still has not finitely presented itself. Thursday’s episode dropped a significant clue as to how the show may be planning to handle wrapping up Alex’s story in the coming weeks.
How Are The Creators Going To Explain Karev’s Exit?
After flying unexpectedly to Iowa to worry for his ailing mother (the series’ 350th episode, Chambers’ last), Alex has remained far away from Seattle. He has only been communicating through text and the occasional off-screen phone call with his wife, Jo (Camilla Luddington), and his close circle of friends and colleagues.
But the latest hour presented the most significant indicator that something far more severe than we are aware of maybe going on with Alex that could serve to the character being written off of Greys. Jo has revealed that she’s been going through some relationship problems with Alex. It has even started to disturb her everyday work life as well. Alex was not returning to her calls.
He says that he’s going through something and that he needs time. But as far as I know him, he’s getting revenge for when I needed time. But then she also thinks Alex would never do that.
This is the first marker of a more significant conflict for Alex that forces him to remain out of Seattle.
However, it remains unclear. It could be his mother’s ill health. Or it’s something else entirely that has amplified whatever internal struggles he’s going through. It’s no secret Joe wants to start out a family, especially when she briefly took in an abandoned baby as a secure Haven volunteer. However, that doesn’t seem to the basis of whatever problem that leads Alex to still stand back. So, what could that be Alex’s problem? On a knowledgeable level, Alex’s absence continues to be a discussion for other characters, namely Owen Hunt and Richard Webber.
Why Chamber’s Decided To Quit?
In a shocking move, Chambers announced in January that he was leaving Grey’s after playing Alex for quite 15 seasons, citing a desire to “diversify [his] acting roles”. The series’ 350th episode, which aired Nov. 14, was Chambers’ last appearance on the show. Chamber’s said “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years.
For some time now, however, I even have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now’s that point .”
“As I am moving on from Grey’s Anatomy, I want to thank the ABC family. And of course, Shonda Rhimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens [Jr.], and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an unprecedented ride,” Chambers added.
