Google organized an event on the 22nd of March in which they announced their brand new cloud gaming project called ‘Stadia’. This event took place at the 2019 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California and it marked Google’s intention to revolutionize the online gaming industry and change how we interact with games. If Google’s Stadia project succeeds, the company will be able to dominate the gaming industry for many years to come.
Google Stadia advertises to become a cloud gaming hub that will upend the gaming status quo that companies have enjoyed for much of the 20th and the 21st century, and end the era of console gaming devices the technological changes that have shaped the gaming industry for the past 40 years now.
In the event, Stadia makes some lofty promises which will change how games are bought, distributed, sold, played and developed through the entire supply chain of games. It also promises to solve some of the technical problems that have plagued the gaming world as of late, such as split-screen play and agnostic gaming platforms that limit gaming sharing sessions. It will boost Google’s ecosystem of apps such as YouTube such that streamers will be able to experience more reach on the platform and promises to turn the entire internet into a massive video gaming store.
Still, after Google’s announcement, there are many questions that went unanswered behind the Stadia project. What will be the business model of Stadia? How will Google generate money from this endeavor? Will it be a subscription model or something different? Can Google really deliver this gaming experience in its fledgling cloud structure? Google promises true 4k quality at 60 frames per second, but achieving that will take a mighty effort from the company as many companies are already trying to achieve such a goal.
It’s safe to say that Google is late to the party. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have all been developing cloud gaming structures, and these companies are yet to announce their reactions to the Stadia project.
Currently, no one is questioning the intentions behind Google. The search engine giant plans to dominate the gaming industry, and the future will tell if the company is able to succeed or not.

Even if your computer is an old desktop or a laptop that lacks a graphics card, you can play the video game of your choice on your computer, and all you will require is a high-speed internet connection. You can even utilize your tablet or your smartphone to play video games. There is no external hardware required to experience these games, although there is an optional controller that will directly connect to the servers instead of having to connect through any particular device over Wi-Fi.
