Ghostbusters: Afterlife will come as a sequel to the Ghostbusters 2 that released in 1989. The movie will be the fourth film in the franchise and will follow part 1 and 2 in story. Ghostbusters 2016 did not receive much love from the audience and it had many issues. The fans of the franchise hope the Afterlife will prove to do a better job.
Ghostbusters, when first released in 1984 was a major hit, that was what lead to the franchise getting popular among the younger generations, leading to video games and merchandise based on the movie. Though the second part did not receive much love, it was still a good enough sequel.
The talk of the sequel was in consideration from right after the release od part 2, but it has taken two decades time for the makers to finally see what they were wishing for.
The movie is being directed by Jason Reitman with producer being Ivan Reitman. It has been written by Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will follow the journey of a single mother who recently moves to a new town along with her 2 children. The movie follows their journey in the small town and how they begin to discover their connection with the original ghostbusters, going back to their grandfather’s secret legacy.
The confirmed cast includes Carrie Coon as the mother, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace as the children. Paul Rudd will also feature in the film as the character of Mr. Grooberson. Modt of the cast from the franchise is said to recur in this film with Bill Murray agreeing to play his role of Dr. Venkman. Though one sad news for the original fans is that Rick Moranis has confirmed he will not be returning in the Ghostbuster movie reprising his role of Louis Tully.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife began filming in July 2019. It is set to release in theatres on July 10th 2020 by Sony Pictures.
The fans of the original Ghostbusters, along with the new, young enthusiasts of Ghostbusters because of the Video game are eagerly waiting for what this movie brings. The cast with Mckenna Grace in it has given hope to the enthusiasts who have wanted to see a teenager being a ghostbuster for quite some time now.
