It doesn’t matter that an ageing Steve Rogers has inherited his Vibranium shield from Sam Wilson. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the army of the United States has another candidate to assume the patriotic title, and its propaganda already begins to circulate. On the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a poster that boasts John Walker (Wyatt Russell) as the new Captain America was spotted.
Is Captain America back again?
The dispute to wield Rogers’ starry weaponry is not a novelty. When it was revealed that Walker would be part of the upcoming Disney + show, the background of the comics was enough to know that the character would try to fill the shoes of the first avenger, under the pseudonym US Agent.
Faced with this contender approved by the US administration and the possible inclusion of Black Captain America, it is not surprising to see shields spread throughout the MCU. Even in a recent interview, Anthony Mackie (Falcon) admitted to finding props of this iconic tool in unexpected places, along with some Marvel locations. “The curious thing about shield training is that I feel that everyone has received training with shields,” even the actor has stated it in one of his interviews.
Do you remember that Super Bowl spot that anticipated three of the Marvel series that will soon arrive at the House of Mouse streaming? Obviously yes, and undoubtedly they have not forgotten that, at first, we see Sam Wilson throw the shield above against a tree, by way of practice. It is Anthony Mackie himself who performs that action.
