‘Operation Broken Arrow’- an operation carried out by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force was based in Valdosta against the sexual exploitation of the children.
This operation was a proactive online sting operation involving 20 agencies . It took place in 4 days. GBI spokeswoman Lindsay Marchant said that it took several months of planning before they successfully carried out the sting.The operation ran in between 6th February to 9th February.
Along with the dean of Valdosta State University , 14 men ranging from the age of 24 to 57 were arrested during the operation. According to the reports, 9 out of 14 were charged with human trafficking.
The accused were using online chat rooms to lure the children into sexual activities with them. Marchant informed that the accused were having conversations with supposed minors leading to sexual exploitation. They even demanded the nudes from the children and were exposing them to pornography,
According to GBI, all of them were travelling to the locations as they believed that they were going to have sex with the children.
Valdosta Daily Times announced that Keith Walters, 44, who is dean of the Valdosta State University of Science and Mathematics is arrested under charges of sexual exploitation of children. He was removed from his post as dean of the university.
