The US tech giant Amazon has just announced that it has successfully completed the acquisition of Sizmek’s ad serving and dynamic content optimization businesses.
Amazon has stated in a press release that both Sizmek and Amazon Advertising have many mutual customers, so they know how valuable these proven solutions are to their large and unique customer base. The company further went on to add in the press release that Sizmek is a company that has been searching for a buyer for Sizmek Ad Server and Sizmek DCO, and that both Amazon and Sizmek are committed towards continuing a good working relationship whereby both the companies serve their customers at the high standards that their customers have come to expect over the last few years.
The e-commerce giant also added that the Sizmek products will be operated separately from Amazon Advertising at least that will be the arrangement for the time being.
While the ad revenue of Amazon is quite miniscule when you compare its size to its massive and ginormous e-commerce business, the company’s ad revenues are currently expanding quickly , and the company’s “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, grew by 34% to reach a figure of $2.7 billion in its most recent quarter. The company is increasingly seen as the most likely challenger to Google and Facebook, the two biggest players in the online advertising industry.
Sizmek, meanwhile, declared bankruptcy earlier this year.
Bloomberg first reported that a deal was in the works. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
